Haystack cats are considered one of the smallest cats in the world. They measure a maximum of 70 centimeters (to the tip of the cause) and weigh between 4 and 5 kilos. They resemble domestic cats. The species occurs in South America. In Brazil, they live in areas of the Pantanal, Cerrado and Pampas.
The feline's coat is long, with a brownish color that varies between grayish and orange tones. It has irregular stripes on the sides of its body and paws. It features a strip of longer hair that runs from the head to the base of the tail.
They are solitary animals and have nocturnal habits. During the night, they go out hunting and feed on small mammals such as rodents.
