With little more than 30 centimeters, the sovi (Ictinia plumbea) also draws attention to its beauty. It has grayish feathers in various shades, orange feet and red eyes. In flight, it is possible to notice rust-colored feathers on the tips of the wings. The juvenile of the sovi, on the other hand, is completely different from the adults, as it is lighter and has brindle feathers.

Insects are part of the favorite foods of this hawk that is also popularly known as hawk-sauveiro and hawk-pombinha.

The species that is usually observed in pairs or alone can also be found in larger groups, either for hunting or for migration.
