Can a child have high blood pressure?

Yes, but it's not common! High blood pressure (or hypertension) is a change in the force that blood exerts against artery walls to circulate through the body. This can happen, for example, by consuming excess salt: salt makes the arteries stiffer, causing the heart to pump blood more forcefully to pass through the region, which causes increased pressure blood. In children, the change usually arises from birth problems, such as a narrowing of the aorta, the most important artery in the body. Therefore, it is important that the pediatrician always check the pressure and listen very well to the patients' heart.
