The beginning of the year is also marked by the presence of one of the hottest seasons: summer. The options to cool off the hottest days are very welcome. Composed of 90% water, watermelon is an excellent choice for the heat. And it may seem like a coincidence, but the harvest period is precisely in January.
A good part of the fruits and vegetables are sold almost every month in all regions of the country. However, types and varieties produced locally and during the harvest period, when production is at its maximum, have a lower price, in addition to greater quality and more flavor, as guided by the Food Guide for the Brazilian Population, produced by the Ministry of Health.
One of the most beloved fruits, watermelon deserves this rank. Juicy, sweet and refreshing, watermelon is a true source of mineral salts such as calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, sodium and potassium, in addition to important vitamins for the body, such as vitamins A, from the complex B and C. And that's not all!
