Read the text below, which tells us about a book written by Jorge Amado:
The tabby's temperament was not the best. His reputation as a troublemaker was such that when he appeared in the park, everyone ran away: the carijó hen, the reverend parrot, the black duck, the white paw, mama sabiá, the pigeons, the dogs. Even the flowers closed to his passage. Upon discovering that all the animals were afraid of him, the cat was devastated. But he soon resumes his usual indifference, as he doesn't care about others.
What he didn't know was that there was someone who wasn't the least bit afraid of him: Sinha's swallow. One spring day, the cat realizes that she was the only one who didn't run away when he showed up. The swallow justifies his courage: it flies, he doesn't. Since that day the friendship between the two has deepened, and in autumn the animals see the cat with different eyes, thinking maybe he's not so bad and dangerous since he's spent all spring and summer without mess up.
During that time, even sonnet the cat wrote. And he confessed to the swallow: “If I weren't a cat, I would ask you to marry me…”. But love between the two is forbidden, not only because the cat is viewed with suspicion, but also because the swallow is betrothed to the nightingale.
With great lyricism, the story of the love of a bad cat for an adorable swallow here takes on the fabled tone of children's and youth tales. In addition to turning into an unlikely case of passion, the narrative shows how two very different creatures can not only coexist in peace but also change the way you see the world.
