Anne Shirley is now 16 years old. After finishing high school, she dropped out of college to stay with her adoptive mother, Marilla, in Green Gables.
She is the new teacher at the village school, as are several of her friends who are teachers in other counties on the island. She has idealistic and romantic views about teaching, but eventually discovers how difficult – and rewarding – teaching can be.
When Marilla "inherits" two relatives, 6-year-old orphans, Anne helps raise them. And he also encounters other challenges, developing some projects to improve the village, not all of them with positive results...
Despite the responsibilities and the fact that she is already considered an adult by society, the story continues to show the innocent, cheerful and inventive side of Anne Shirley, and her love for life, always full of possibilities.
In this second volume, Lucy Maud Montgomery continues to captivate us with her unique humor, with hints of malice, and with her well-constructed characters, whose actions are always permeated by values essential to human coexistence and consciousness.
