The macuco, living in an area of the Atlantic Forest, always close to streams, is at serious risk of disappearing (along with the forest).
It used to exist even in the forests of Corcovado, in Rio de Janeiro. On the other hand, when it is seen, its presence indicates that preservation prevails in that place.
With 48 centimeters and weight ranging from 1.2 to 1.5 kg, this bird has a grayish-brown color on the back and light gray belly.
Females are dominant and territorial. They like to bathe. They perch to sleep on thick branches.
