Read this text and then answer the proposed questions:
The Mango shark is fierce only in appearance. A calm animal, it feeds on small fish and rarely bites people, although it does not live very far from the beaches and it often comes very close to the area used by bathers.
Mangona sharks can be found alone or in groups of up to 80 animals. In general, this fish joins others of its species to migrate: it usually looks for places to breed that it considers safe for both itself and its young.
Speaking of reproduction and food, the offspring of this species have a strange and curious way of feeding while in the womb: they eat other younger siblings, who are less developed.
That way, only one pup survives through childbirth. But this does not mean that the Mango shark has only one offspring at each gestation. As a female shark has two uterus, two babies are born!
The first species of shark to be protected by law on the planet (in Australia, in 1984), the mango shark is in serious danger of disappearing. Intense fishing, habitat destruction and lack of food are causing this species to disappear.
Scientists suggest that their capture be banned worldwide and that areas in the oceans, protected by law, should be created where the species can have its offspring without risk.
Protecting sharks, however, is not very easy, because the reputation of these animals for ferocity makes people not feel sympathy for them.
But it's always time to understand that sharks are marine predators that help maintain the ecological balance!
