Portuguese activity, aimed at students in the ninth year of elementary school, addresses the definite articles. Are we going to analyze the words that precede nouns, defining them? Then answer the questions based on the text you ask. Where did the term “blue blood” come from? According to the text, there are two explanations for the creation of the expression used to designate members of noble families. Find out what they are by reading the text and, of course, study the defined articles!

There are two explanations for the creation of the expression used to designate members of noble families. The most accepted by etymologists, the language scholars, is that it has its origins in 6th century Spain. “She was born in a context of ethnic, religious and cultural prejudice”, says the etymologist Deonisio da Silva, from the Estácio de Sá University, in Rio de Janeiro.
"It refers to the light color of the skin, under which blue veins and arteries stood out - almost invisible in the skin of Moors and Jews, constantly exposed to the sun while working.” However, some researchers argue that the origin of the expression is much older and is in the ancient Egypt. According to them, the pharaohs claimed to have blue blood like the waters of the Nile River, contrasting it with the red blood of their subjects.
