A scientific discovery shows that Uberaba, in the Triângulo Mineiro Region, is more than the internationally recognized “land of dinosaurs”. It is, with all merit, a nursery: in Bairro Ponte Alta, 30 kilometers from the city center, a “nesting site” was found, a nest with 20 dinosaur eggs.
As disclosed by the Federal University of Triângulo Mineiro (UFTM), since the beginning of paleontological research until now, only a few isolated eggs had been recovered, making this the first dinosaur nesting site found in the world. Brazil. The research was published in the international journal “Scientific Reports”, by the “Nature Group”.
Based on the characteristics of the shells and egg associations, approximately 12 centimeters diameter, the researchers were able to compare fossils from other places in the world, mainly from Argentina. Thus, it was possible to identify that the dinosaurs that laid these eggs belong to the titanosaur group.
