“The three poor little pigs”

Author: Erico Verissimo
Illustrator: Eva Furnari

“The three poor little pigs” tells the story of the brothers Sabugo, Salsicha and Linguicinha. Sabugo, the eldest, was black. Shaggy, the middle pig, was red. The youngest was called Linguicinha and was tabby. The three of them shared the same pigpen in the backyard of a very poor house.

One night, afraid of going into the oven, they decide to run away. The piggies end up in town and sneak into a movie theater. To the joy of the three brothers, the movie that was showing was “Big Bad Wolf – The Adventures of the Three Little Piglets”, by Walt Disney.

They cheer for the piglets, squealing and bucking in the movie theater. The public is frightened and confusion ensues. The three poor little pigs run away and, inspired by the heroes of the film, decide to live great adventures, but end up getting into a big mess. Luckily for them, they meet an understanding Girl from Little Green Riding Hood, who welcomes them into her home.

The book plays with classic children's stories and brings the unmistakable style of Erico Verissimo, one of the most important writers of Brazilian literature, author of “O tempo e o vento”, in addition to the beautiful illustrations by Eva Furnari.

Available in:. (With adaptations).
