A gathering of folk tales from the Middle East and South Asia, The one thousand and one nights it has as its background the story of a king named Sharyar who, upon discovering that his wife was cheating on him, had her killed. From then on he managed not to be deceived anymore: every day he married a new woman and the next day he killed her. When Sherazade's turn came, she came up with a very good plan: she started to tell an amazing story, which the king wanted very much to know how it ended, but day dawned and the story wasn't over yet—and with that King _____ granted another day of life. That way she managed to survive for a thousand and one nights, until the king ended up falling in love with her and never killed anyone again.
