The forest animals were very worried. It hadn't rained for months, and the water in the river was getting smaller every day.
– What will we do if the water runs out? asked the elephant.
- We will have to look for water elsewhere - the fox suggested.
- No way! We'll take care that the water doesn't run out. Soon the rains will arrive, but until then we will be careful to preserve this precious asset that nature offers us - said the lion, with authority.
So the animals started a task force to save water.
Each animal did its part. The lion started taking faster baths, the zebra stopped washing the door of his house every week and the elephant stopped splashing water everywhere with his trunk. The days went by and the water in the river rose a little. When spring arrived, the rain came with it and the river returned to the way it was before.
- Alive! We have water in abundance again – the lion celebrated.
The animals were very happy and learned that if they saved water, it would never run out for them.
