NAME:
A father had some children, who were always fighting with each other. No words he could say made a difference. Then he searched his mind for some very striking instance which would make them see that discord would lead them to misfortune.
One day, when the fights were much more violent than usual and each of the Sons was in a bad mood, he asked one of them to bring him a bundle of sticks. Then, handing the beam to his children, he told them to try to break it. But although each one tried his best, none was able to do it.
The father then untied the bundle and gave each son a stick to break. This time they managed to do it very easily.
- My children - said the Father - do you not see that if you agree with each other and help each other, staying united like a bundle of sticks, it will be impossible for your enemies to harm you? But if you are divided, you are no stronger than a single loose stick.
Moral of the story: In union is strength.
