Did you know that pets can also be treated with acupuncture? There are several diseases that can use this technique as support, for example, in animals with locomotor problems.
“Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese technique that has been used with great success in veterinary medicine. It can be used alone for the treatment of diseases or in conjunction with conventional therapy”, explained veterinarian Renata Guardia Evangelista.
"Within acupuncture there are several techniques that can be used, such as: needle, electroacupuncture, moxa, ozone, acupressure, hemopuncture, pharmacopuncture, laser and magnets”, completed the female doctor.
One of the biggest doubts of tutors who intend to submit their pets to this treatment is about pain, but, according to the veterinarian, there is no need to worry.
“Acupuncture doesn't hurt! The technique favors the animal's state of relaxation, so there is no suffering whatsoever. On the contrary, dogs and cats usually sleep during the session”, stressed Dr. Renata. “In addition, acupuncture can be performed on any animal species,” he added.
