Paradisiacal, Paraty is a city full of attractions and historic buildings that take tourists on an intense journey straight back to the 17th century.
The beauty of its beaches and the historical collection make the city a unique place, visited and admired by many people. Walking through the streets of Paraty is like seeing all of its history outlined by the little houses with colorful windows, plants adorning simple facades, small shops filled with an infinite variety of handicrafts and products.
The famous Nossa Senhora dos Remédios Church is one of the city's icons, located in the main square and was built in 1873 in neoclassical style.
On days when the high tide enters the historic center of the city, tourists have the privilege of obtaining a rare beauty, born of the indescribable mixture of sea waters and its tortuous streets.
Vila de Trindade is a bucolic fishing village that has 7 delightful beaches. In a bay with more than 300 beaches and dozens of islands, the city also offers several boat trips that recall old adventures in search of gold. As a gift, the treasures found are beautiful beaches surrounded by exuberant nature immersed in the peace of the tropical forest. The well-known Diving in the Bay of Paraty is one of the attractions most requested by tourists.
The municipality also has an exquisite set of restaurants with a cuisine that is appreciated throughout the country. Traditional activity that brought together more than 200 mills almost 3 centuries ago, the manufacture of cachaça in the city is still alive today in places like Engenho da Boa Vista.
The city still has several cultural festivities, among them, Festival of Sacred Music, Festival of Cachaça, Carnival and Street Theater Meeting.
