shopping for mom

Snake Silvia is shopping for her mother at Mr. Ptero's variety store. Her shopping list is a little weird. Since she can't read, her mom draws pictures of things to buy.
“Let's see,” she whispers. The first drawing is of a bunch of eggs. Silvia tells them: There are six. She goes to the egg section and picks up a box, makes sure there are six eggs in it, and puts it in her shopping bag.


– The next one is easy – is the drawing of a loaf of bread. She chooses her favorite type of bread, with lots of grapes – raisins. Ready. What else? Two apples. She chooses the two most beautiful. What is that? - She asks herself next. Mom wrote the number 2 and then a word. Why did she do this instead of drawing?
She goes to Mr. Ptero and says:
– Hi, Mr. Ptero. Could you help me? I cannot read this word.
Mr. Ptero smiles and says:
– Sure, Silvia, let me see.
He pulls his glasses off his head and looks at the list. Then he chuckles at Silvia.
– You'll like this. The word is sweet. Looks like her mom played a joke on you!
Silvia smiles and picks a very sour lemon candy and a tablet of crunchy chocolate.
Will she wait to get home to eat them?
