Memories

The lion had ceased to be the king of the jungles for reasons of age. He retired to his home, leaving fond memories for his former subjects, while another young lion occupied the throne.

Nostalgia for times gone by seized the soul of the lion, who lived alone and spent his days lamenting his old age. The visits of his friends and acquaintances were of no use. He couldn't see the reality of things and was always hanging on to his past. The lion complained about the gift, saying:

— Oh! None of this used to happen. What beautiful times those were!

One day, the lion was visited by two cubs. His history teacher had requested a paper on the life and deeds of the ancient king of the jungles. Very happy, the old king related his years of reign to them, from beginning to end. When he finished, he went back to lamenting that this was all over.

- Don't be like that, lord lion, one of the cubs told him. You will always be someone important, because he was one of the few animals capable of interfering in history. Will never be forgotten.

The lion understood that he didn't do well to run away from the present and take refuge in his past. Life must be lived with all its intensity, moment by moment. There is no point in seeking solace in memories of the past, forgetting to live in the present moment.

Old age can be as beautiful as youth. It all depends on our attitude towards it. Every age has its beauty.
