Why do we get vaccines?

To protect ourselves from some illnesses. When we take a vaccine, our immune system (responsible for defending the body) reacts and produces antibodies. The role of antibodies is to protect us from the disease we are vaccinating against. For example, if you are infected with measles but have already had the vaccine, your body will detect the virus and fight it off.
