A Milky Way it is home to thousands of planets, including planet Earth. From the photos found, you can get an idea of its immensity. However, even in this way it is not possible to glimpse the secrets and novelties that this place holds.
Recent study, contained in the academic research of Alberto Caballero, entitled “Estimating the prevalence of malicious extraterrestrial civilizations" suggests that approximately four evil alien civilizations would invade earth if they could. According to the aforementioned article, there is a peculiar question on the agenda: what are the chances of civilization on planet Earth coming into contact with some alien civilization that is hostile to the point of invading our planet?
In order to be able to answer his own question, Alberto (a doctoral student at the University of Vigo, Spain) chose to focus his attention initially on human history itself. Because of this, he began his study through a review of facts, counting the number of countries that invaded others between 1951 and 2022.
From that fact, he weighted the likelihood of each country launching an invasion based on that country's share of global military expenditure. In the two analyzed situations it was possible to identify a majority participation of the United States.
With these results, Caballero can come up with a number: the current chances of humans invading another planet are 0.028%. However, what about the opposite?
Caballero managed to arrive at an approximation number in relation to the malicious neighbors that we can find in the Milky Way: 4.42. That is, 4 possible hostile alien powers. However, apparently, the probability of invasion by them is remote.
In fact, according to the author himself, the chance of planet Earth being hit by an asteroid collision is much greater, like the one that doomed the dinosaurs, since they are events that occur every 1 in 100 million years.
