PicPay customers may be surprised by a novelty recently announced by fintech, especially those who do not use the functionalities of the application. The news seems not to have made users happy.
This is the insertion of a new fee: from the next 29th of July, the platform will charge a fee of BRL 10 per month for inactive users for more than 360 days – that is, one year.

That chargemay occur for up to 12 months, but if the customer uses his account again, the fee will be charged. In addition, when the user's inactivity period is equal to 720 days, PicPay will automatically close your account.
Users became aware of the change after the platform changed its official fees page. According to the company, the amount will only be charged to those users who have an account balance.
For those who no longer use the PicPay application and also do not have any money saved in platform, payment of the fee will not be mandatory – in order to prevent customers from staying defaulters.
Apparently, just move the account - with financial transactions or accessing the application - every 359 days to avoid paying this fee, which must be used to maintain the account and services from the fintech.
Federal deputy Gerlen Diniz (PP/AC) created bill (PL) 772/23, which proposes that banks notify customers that have 60 days of inactivity, questioning the possibility and/or interest of the user to keep the account active.
If there is no response within 30 days, the bank must close the account immediately in order to avoid any charges. However, PicPay positioned itself on the PL:
“The measure is contemplated in the terms of use of PicPay and it is a mechanism used by institutions to reduce costs with accounts without movement. The company also reinforces that the charge is conditional on the balance in the user's account and, therefore, will not be configured as a debt to the customer”, he declared.
