The water in the lake was so clean that it reflected the images of the forest like a mirror. All the animals that went to drink water saw their reflections. The bear and its cub stopped in awe, but left. And so a lot of animals passed by the lake.
Until a flock of moose arrived and scattered along the banks. One of them lowered his head to drink and stopped, looking at his horns:
– What a beautiful pair of branches! How wonderful is my image with this beautiful head!
Suddenly, he looked at his legs, long and thin, and was sad:
– What horrible legs! I had never noticed the ugliness of my legs. They spoil my beauty.
While looking at his body, a pack of ferocious wolves came and spread the pack, which ran scared. The moose ran into the woods and got lost from the herd.
On the way, he stuck the horn in a tree and was almost devoured by the wolf. But his legs were stronger and lighter than those of the wolf, who, tired, gave up hunting the moose.
"What a fright!" thought the moose, already out of harm's way. “Because of these useless horns, I almost go through my life. If it weren't for my legs…"
