E-mail has revived the custom of correspondence. For many people, however, it represented an uncomfortable exposure of their own communicative fragility. In this age of electronic messaging, it's bad to stumble across Portuguese and etiquette when making an invitation, commenting on a deal or making an appointment with a client.
A recent trend in business thinking believes that an email – and every document to be sent, such as notes, official letters, business proposals, contracts and reports - it will be well written if it is thoughtful and civilized. And attention means that everything in the message will be treated with respect – from proofreading to quality of service.
A badly written message is, by this logic, badly written in its entirety – a Portuguese mistake is also of etiquette.
