To establish which apps are the most battery and memory intensive, pCloud determined some criteria. First, they listed the permissions required by the apps, such as authorization to turn on the camera and to actively track the user's location and also whether the dark screen (or night mode) option was available.
By analyzing these factors, they were able to measure the energy and battery drain required by the apps.

They required an average of 11 resources running simultaneously in the background. Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest already had the night mode at the time, which did not prevent them from being on the list of social networks that most demand battery and memory.
It's not just social media that drew attention for being "heavy". The top of the ranking is United Airlines, an airline app that uses 400 MB of memory.
