A factor little remembered by people can play an even greater role in a longer and healthier life: the study
To improve life expectancy, attitudes such as balanced diets, physical activity and interpersonal relationships are extremely important. However, a factor little remembered by people can play an even greater role for a longer and healthier life: study.
According to psychiatrist Daniel Barros, in an interview with the program Rota Healthy, on Rádio Estadão, people who study more tend to increase their life expectancy. “There are several studies showing that each year invested in knowledge reverts to more years in the individual's life.”, he says.
The benefits of the study for longevity and quality of life are the result of an overall effect on the individual. “The impact is not explicit on the organism; it is the person's attitudes, behaviors that change as they gain knowledge”, explains the psychiatrist.
According to Barros, the main skill acquired through the study “is being able to know when to postpone the bonuses. So, to the detriment of immediate pleasure, the person is able to think about the future and plan for the long term to enjoy their life better”.
For a better quality of life, the expert's tip is to balance attitudes. "Of course it's important to work out, practice physical activities, eat healthily, but we're not just 'body'. We cannot forget the mind”, he observes.
