Meet Gmail's Secret Feature: Read Receipts Enabled!

Many people are unaware, but it is possible to activate the read receipt in Gmail after the recipient opens your message. This feature is currently only available on a limited basis for work or school accounts.

When the option is enabled, you receive a notification when the email is opened. However, in some cases, the person on the other end will need to approve the feature activation. After all, nowadays, more and more people value privacy online.

Here's how to turn on read receipts in Gmail

The read receipt feature is only activated when the user writes the email on the computer. So, if you want to include this tool in your routine, pay attention to this detail.

• With the email open, tap Compose to open a blank window;
• Then click on the “More options” icon, located on the bottom bar of the window;
• Click on “Request Read Confirmation” and then type your email and you can send.

The option is great for use in corporate emails and schoolchildren with the aim of quickly checking whether the recipient is already aware of the content sent by email.

However, not always the option can translate reality. This is because, the recipient can list the email as read or, in the worst case, open and close the content without really checking what it is about.

Likewise, in some circumstances read receipts may not be enabled, in particular when email is sent to lists.

The option can also be restricted by administrators of corporate accounts or the use of programs with the alternative of not synchronizing email in real time.

The read receipt feature is turned off by default in Gmail, so those who intend to use the feature must manually turn it on.
