Late in the afternoon today, after long days of extreme heat, the rain came. At first, just a few large drops, which, when they hit the hot ground, turned to steam. Then the loud noise of drops and more drops, which suddenly turned the sky into a great white waterfall. As it came, the rain was gone. The water drained, seeped through the land and everything slowly returned to its routine. I like the rain. This rain that comes in a hurry, refreshes the air, waters the plants, and when it catches us halfway, it leaves us drenched. It brings back memories of good things like a cozy home, rain cookies, popcorn and a slower pace of the day.
