NAME:

Confucius and the boys

Confucius traveled to the east and found two boys arguing with each other. He asked them why the discussion was, and one of them explained:
– I say that the Sun is closest to us in the morning and farthest away at noon, and it holds that it is farthest away in the morning and closer to noon.
Said a boy:
– When the sun starts to rise, it is the size of a car deck, and at noon it is like a dish. So it should be farther away when it looks smaller, and closer when it looks bigger.

The other boy said:
– When the sun rises, the air is very fresh, and at noon it burns like hot soup. So the sun should be closer when it's hot and farther away when it's cool.
Confucius couldn't decide who was right, and the boys laughed at him, saying:
– Who said you were a wise guy!
