Muting a contact's status updates is pretty quick. As it is a very simple process, it can be done in less than 3 minutes.
First, open WhatsApp and click on the option to “Status”, which can be found in different locations depending on your device's system. Then, in the case of Android, go to the desired status and press your finger on it. Already on the Iphone drag it to the side. Then choose the option to “mute”. This way, it will be possible to send the updates of this contact to the “muted” part, preventing it from appearing at the top of your screen.
After following these steps, any statuses that person posts will no longer appear in the “Recent Updates” list. Now, they should go directly to the “Muted Updates” part at the bottom of your screen.
However, as much as this is an important measure, it may be impractical. That's because you can't mute someone unless they've posted something in that updates tab. Still, you'll have some control over what you can or can't see in that app's tab.
This process is as simple as the previous one, but some users still don't know how to do it. In that case, just reverse the steps from when you chose the contact to mute. To do this, open the application, go to the status part and slide the screen to the section called “Muted updates”.
Then press your finger on the status update of the person you'd like to unmute and press unmute. With that in mind, you'll be able to configure and choose which updates you like.
