According to an ancient oriental legend, to achieve a grace, one must make a thousand tsurus – a “senbazuru” – concentrating on desire. The tradition gained strength when, in 1955, Sadako Sasaki, a 12-year-old girl from Hiroshima at the time, began to double the thousand. tsurus, asking for his health when he was in the hospital, where he was being treated for leukemia, caused by the atomic bombs used in World War II.
When she understood that her illness and that of many others had been caused by the war, she began to double her
tsurus for Peace. "I will write peace on your wings and you will fly across the world." Sadako died before completing the work, but her friends got together, doubled the tsurus remaining and started a campaign to build the “Children for Peace Monument” in Hiroshima, inaugurated in 1958, where there is a statue of Sadako.Aluá's almanac.
