In fact, bats don't only see at night. They see by day too. Because they stay awake at night and sleep during the day, the legend arose that they only see at night.
What happens is that bats are active at night and their main source of orientation is not vision but echo-location, a kind of radar. Bats emit ultrasonic sounds that bounce off obstacles, prey, or predators and allow them to locate both the hazard and their source of food.
So now you know. Bats can see both during the day and at night and some of them can see very, very well indeed!
