ways to find planets

There are several methods for detecting extrasolar planets, and in all of them, the greater the mass of the planet and the smaller the star, the easier it is to detect the extrasolar planet. Do you want to know one of the most used methods? So, be aware that it is based on observing and monitoring the amount of light emitted by a star. Under ideal observation conditions, if the star has a planet, when it passes between it and the telescope, there will be a decrease in the amount of light received from the star by this equipment. After all, it's like an eclipse happened: the planet covers a small piece of the star. When it ends, however, the amount of light received returns to normal. By monitoring this variation in the amount of light received from the star, it is possible to determine whether or not there is a planet in its orbit. Knowing this, you can understand why planetary systems similar to ours have not yet been found: the larger the planet or the smaller the star, the greater the effects caused on the light emitted by the star, used for detecting the planet. That's why it's easier to find planets that are much larger, and therefore much more massive than ours.
