Imagine if you find on the beach a small rock that fell from the sky and could be worth up to R$3.5 million. Not counting the fragments, scattered around the area, and whose grass is valued by specialists at approximately US$ 10 thousand (R$ 23.3 thousand). This is what can happen to visitors to the popular beaches of Angra dos Reis.

Named after the city – Angrito – the astronomical object weighs just 1.5 kilograms and is the new darling of astronomy lovers. With a violet color and a bright crust, it is considered one of the most valuable in the world, as it is as old as the Solar System and its 4.5 billion years old.

The Angrito fell, divided into three parts, into the sea, at the edge of Praia de Bonfim and Ilha Grande Bay, 144 years ago. Two pieces are missing and the third, weighing 70 grams, worth around R$ 1.6 million, was donated to the Museu Nacional, in Rio de Janeiro, where it is kept under lock and key. […]
