want to teach our dogs how to be better behaved can feel a bit overwhelming, but Amelia Steele, a training expert, says it doesn't have to be. In a video posted on Instagram, Amelia Steele shares three great training tips to improve your dog's behavior.
According to Amelia Steele, you can teach new tricks even if the dog is older. She says:
“It is very common for people to think that their dog is too old or that they are past the point of learning, but this is not true, dogs can learn at any age, so do not underestimate them.”
The expert advises that owners reward their dog with frequency. Amelia says:
"Sometimes adult dogs may not pick up on things as quickly as puppies, so it's really important to keep them encouraged and motivated."
Of course, the best way to motivate your dog is to reward him for every little thing that falls in line with what you're looking for. If you want to teach your puppy to lie down, try rewarding them for any attempts to move towards that lie down command, even if they just move their head down.
Puppies learn best if they do things in short, frequent bursts.
“So it's best to practice from 30 seconds to a minute at a time, but more frequently throughout the day. This is the best way to help your dog learn things quickly. If the training sessions are too long, there's a good chance your dog will get bored and take longer to learn," says Amelia Steele.
