The transport of animals must be done by means of transport authorization and payment of a ticket
IBAMA (Brazilian Institute for the Environment and Renewable Resources) released a new rule for the transport of wild animals between states in Brazil.
Now, the transport of animals must be done by means of transport authorization and payment of a ticket to Ibama.
The coordinator of Monitoring the Use of Fauna and Fisheries Resources, Maria Isabel Soares, highlights that Ibama wild animals are considered as those purchased from legal breeders or transferred with the authorization of the Ibama.
The most common to be bred are parrots, macaws, tortoises. Maria Isabel warns that before having a wild animal in your tutorship, you need to know their needs, which are different from dogs and cats, including costs. Maria Isabel also highlights that the increase in fraud and trafficking was what motivated this change in regularization.
