It is increasingly common to find cacti planted in vases and decorating the most diverse environments. For example, you'll find cacti decorating offices, bathrooms, porches, bedrooms, and many other spaces. So, pay attention to what you will need to plant cacti and decorate your home!
Cacti are planted through seedlings, branches, which are born from a mother plant, usually removed from the side. After this removal, you must wait for the cactus to go through a healing process that lasts, on average, 48 hours. After that period, you should place it in the chosen container, which can be a vase or your vegetable garden, as long as you pay attention to soil care.
Experts point out that cacti need phosphorus to grow, so a good tip is to fertilize the soil with eggshells. In addition, you can work on making a homemade composter and fertilize it monthly. What's more, a healthy cactus demands a soil pH between 5.8 and 6.3. Ensure that the soil has plenty of organic matter and efficient drainage and don't forget to guarantee a soft soil, as cacti with compacted soil do not flourish.
Cacti, in general, need a lot of sun exposure throughout the day, so you'll want to choose a spot with direct sun exposure. For example, if you choose to plant cacti in pots, you can choose to decorate them on the porch, or place them in a window or exposed to a skylight.
According to experts, cacti need, on average, 8 to 10 hours of direct light to grow. As for watering, in the first days of planting the cacti you should water twice a week, without soaking the soil too much. However, after the first two weeks, water every 15 days, just making sure the soil remains moist.
Thus, leave the watering more spaced, and choose to break these periods only in case of soil dryness. That way, following the tips, your cacti will always bloom!
