Among the Maya themselves, the idea of time is not _______ equal. In another region of Mexico called Palenque, archaeologists have discovered an inscription on the life of a ruler known as Pakall II. The monument referred to the duration of an era of 20 baktuns, not 13. This was because the Mayan rulers, considered descendants of the gods on Earth, modified the timing according to their will. Thinking like this, for the Mayans of Palenque, the current era would end well after the year 4000.
