North Korea is a very restricted country, there is little data about it, after all the government there is not very friendly. As a result, events that are far from the Western democratic imagination become frequent in North Korea. Check out the seven biggest oddities that we can find there:
poop balloon
After North Korea carried out a hydrogen bomb test in 2016, its neighbor, South Korea, felt uncomfortable and its activists, in the form of a protest, had an unusual attitude. Balloons composed of scriptures critical of North Korea's stance were sent there. However, the North Korean government did not swallow the criticism and decided to send balloons filled with garbage, used toilet paper and other types of undesirable items, which flew over the South Korean sky.
Time zone
North Koreans have their own time zone. The well-known Pyongyang time zone emerged in 2015, when Korea decided to turn its clock back by 30 minutes.
hired fans
In the 2010 World Cup, held in South Africa, the world was surprised by the number of fans that North Korea had in stadiums. After all, North Koreans face a lot of restrictions when trying to travel outside the country. Still during the Cup, the news emerged that the fans were, apparently, Chinese paid to pretend to be North Koreans.
Ghost town
North Korea decided to build a village on the border with South Korea that looks nice but has no inhabitants. There are those who believe that it exists to attract South Koreans who are thinking about leaving their homeland.
leader's talents
The intense positive propaganda of its leader Kim Jong-Un, promoted to its own population, reaches unimaginable levels of bizarreness. There is an assumption that it is disclosed there, that the leader has never been and does not even need to use the bathroom. In addition, it is publicized in schools that the dictator drove his first car when he was 3 years old.
quirky calendar
The calendar is also different. Currently, we have the Gregorian calendar, which counts the years from the birth of Christ in ascending order. While we are in the year 2022, North Koreans are in the year Juche 111, this happens because they start counting the years from the birth of their former leader Kim Il-sung, born in 1912.
Haircut
Choosing the haircut is not a reality there. It is said that the male population has 28 types of cuts allowed in the country. The most famous of these is the one used by leader Kim Jong-un.
