A survey collected some data and was able to identify which are the alcoholic beverages that a group of people considers the most sophisticated. See if the result makes sense to you too.
Our beverage preferences are often influenced by the circumstances or occasions in which we are involved, as there is a societal influence in determining that certain drinks “match better” or “were made” for some situation x or context y.
This indirect pressure makes you, for example, end up getting into the mood of drinking a beer during a football game because that's what most are drinking, even though you wanted a whiskey. It doesn't have to be like this! In any event, be it a party, wedding, bar or social at home, enjoy what you want.
However, despite the influence of people on what we drink, it seems that there is also an established common sense about which drinks are better or more sophisticated. A survey carried out by the Tasting Table showed data from 615 readers who were interviewed to define which drinks more sophisticated.

The iconic champagne was, without a doubt, considered the most chic drink to drink in the venues. This category managed to reach 54.47% of respondents, which was understandable. We know that champagne is synonymous with achievements, success, toasts and important parties.
This was the second drink that people considered most elegant and sophisticated for some occasional occasions. It is a cocktail classic that is sure to please most people. No wonder it was the second most voted and got 17.24% of the nominations.
Another classic, but now distilled from wine. Whether of the sparkling variety or not, it also did well in the survey. It has a smoother, more refreshing flavor that appeals to many people's taste buds. Thus, it was in third place with 10.24% of the votes.
