O MEXT, of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan, is one of the most important scholarship programs in the country. In this sense, the Japanese government made five types of subsidies available for the 2022 edition. Graduation, Higher Technical Schools, professional courses, training for primary and secondary school teachers, and Japanese language and culture, to name a few.

O selective process for candidates residing in the states of São Paulo, Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul, as well as in the cities of the Triângulo Mineiro, it takes place at the Consulate General of Japan in São Paulo. Candidates from other cities can consult more information
here.There is a separate selection process for each scholarship type, and the Embassy of Japan provides a page with each specification. Furthermore, it is noteworthy that Japan offers scholarships international in all areas of knowledge. Therefore, there are opportunities for those interested in studying technology, humanities, law and economics. Remembering that registrations must be made until June 24th.
All MEXT scholarships include, in addition to course fees, a ticket to and from the country, a Japanese language course and the cost of maintaining the student in the country. Depending on the scholarship level and the student's residence, this amount can vary from 3 to 5 thousand reais per month. In this way, doctoral students in cities with a higher cost of living receive the highest value scholarships.
Finally, it is important to note that it is possible to apply with a recommendation from a Japanese university. The prerequisites vary according to the modality, however, Brazilians with dual Japanese nationality are not eligible for this type of scholarship.
