The man was detained by the police on the 25th, last week, as he was stopped on a patrol that was in the Puno park. Promptly, the man informed that he was not selling the mummy and that it was in a thermal delivery backpack to show to his friends.
Authorities reported that the remains are between 600 and 800 years old, having been illegally stored for about 30 years. The person responsible for the mummy was a 26-year-old man named Julio César Bermejo, and is being investigated by the Peruvian authorities.
Last Tuesday, the 28th, the Public Ministry of Peru questioned the man for guarding a mummy. “At home, she stays in my room and sleeps with me. I take care of her and maintain her. She is like my spiritual girlfriend,” said Bermejo.
The mummy's name is Juanita, and the authority was told that this was a gift from the boy's father.
The conditions by which the mummy reached this young man are still not evident even after the testimony. Unfortunately for the boy, the Ministry of Culture analyzed the mummy and reported that it was not the remains of a woman, but a man.
