As they catch insects in the air to eat, the swallows see food availability drop in the longer periods. cold, as insects do not roam around as they do in spring and summer, as they do not tolerate casualties temperatures. So, it's up to the swallows to go get them in other areas. The blue swallow, for example, spends the winter in North America (from June to September) in the Amazon and in the Southeast of Brazil. Another species of swallow leaves the Southeast and South of Brazil in autumn for tropical and equatorial zones, such as the Amazon. It is the large domestic swallow, which takes its name because it is also common in urban areas, where it nests in gaps in roofs, church towers or air conditioning units.
