As we mentioned here, proof of life from the National Institute of Social Security is once again required in Brazil, but with some changes in the way it is carried out. It was announced by the Minister of Social Security, Carlos Lupi, that it will be necessary to carry out the proof of life from last Thursday, January 26th.

Despite being suspended in 2020, proof of life will now again be a mandatory annual measure by the institute. However, in the past it was necessary that retirees, pensioners and beneficiaries of the INSS appear in person at any social security agency to prove that they are alive, when summoned.
Now, the proof of life will be carried out in a more technological way, being carried out digitally. This will be possible because the INSS will use a new tool that crosses data from different public bodies, thus being able to identify which insured persons have some recent activity registered.
If the government does not get enough information for proof of life, the insured person will be notified and will be able to make a call and confirm. However, if he does not provide proof within 60 days, an INSS server will be sent to the insured person's home address.
If it is still not possible to find the beneficiary, the benefit will be blocked for 30 days, and if the insured person does not manifest within these 30 days, the benefit will be duly suspended, being definitively canceled after another six months of this suspension.
