AMLD AND BRAZILIAN ZOOS TOGETHER FOR THE CONSERVATION OF THE GOLDEN LION TAM
Did you know that the tamarin population in zoos was very important in helping to restore the population in the wild? In the 80's and 90's about 150 animals were brought from zoos in several countries to be reintroduced into the Atlantic Forest. The partnership with zoos has been around for a long time and has now been strengthened.
Yesterday in João Pessoa, at the 40th Congress of the Brazilian Society of Zoos and Aquariums, AMLD, through its Executive Secretary Luís Paulo Ferraz, and the president of SZB, Claudio Maas, signed a Term of Cooperation.
The idea is to strengthen partnerships to engage the public who visit zoos to learn about and participate in conservation actions. We also intend to improve the exchange of knowledge about captive populations and in nature, campaigns, sale of AMLD products in zoos, among other ideas.
In addition, in 2017 SZB will celebrate the year of the Golden Lion Tamarin, and a lot of good things will come out there. […]
