Breath at the end of the month: green flag and cheaper electricity bill

You know what does each light bill flag mean? In a simplified way, these flags signal the price of electricity bill according to the available power source. This means that when there is a large supply of rain, the account is cheaper.

Recently, the government authorized a 64% readjustment in the tariff flags of the energy, which left many people worried about the charges at the end of the month.

What does each tariff flag mean?

If you've ever looked at an electricity bill, you've probably noticed that the bill contains information about the flag used to charge that month. In total, there are four flags: green, yellow, red and black. With the recent 64% increase in tariffs, there has been a change in the charging of energy fees. See below what each one means and how much is charged for them:

  • Green: there is no additional charge;
  • Yellow: BRL 2,989 for every 100 KWh;
  • Red: BRL 6.5 or BRL 9.795 for every 100 KWh;
  • Black: BRL 14.20 for every 100 KWh.

Despite flags being placed on all types of accounts in the country, low-income families do not pay the above amounts. According to the consumption of each family, there may be 10 to 15% discounts on these brands.

What is the current situation?

Brazil is currently in a more comfortable position with regard to energy billing. The current flag in the country is green, which means that there are no extra charges at the end of the month for the KWh consumed in an establishment or residence.

The government predicts that, if the rains remain constant in the country, there will be no reason to install new flags on electricity bills. In this way, even with the increase in brands, the only charge made will be based only on the amount of energy consumed in each location
