Valentine's Day is a commercially important date for Brazil. The celebration takes place on June 12th and there are several explanations about the origin of the date.
One theory is that Valentine's Day has its origins in a Roman celebration called Lupercalia, where each boy chose the girl who should be his girlfriend for the whole year.
In the United States and Europe, Valentine's Day, or Valentine's Day, is celebrated on February 14, in honor of the Roman bishop Valentino.
In Brazil, the choice of June 12th is associated with commercial interests. Valentine's Day was introduced in Brazil in 1950 by publicist João Dória.
The date chosen represents a time when the gift trade is not so intense, hence the need for such a celebration.
