NAME:

The Pied Piper of Hamelin

Once upon a time there was a very quiet little town called Hamelin. One day, rats invaded the city, bothering all the residents. The villagers tried to finish off the rats, and nothing. They complained to the mayor, who promised to give a chest full of another to anyone who could get rid of the rats. Then, a boy from the village went to the mayor and said:
– By playing my flute, I can send the rats away.

He started playing the flute and the rats came out of holes and burrows. The boy walked out of the town and the rats, enchanted by the sound of the flute, followed him. The boy took the rats far away and the city was free of them all. Upon returning to get his reward, the mayor did not want to hand it over to the flutist. He thought the boy didn't deserve a chest full of gold just because he had played a simple flute. It was one night, while everyone was sleeping, the boy played the flute again. All the children in the town got up, left their house and followed the flutist to an unknown place. The villagers, furious, went to complain to the mayor that their children had disappeared. The mayor sent for the flutist and promised, once again, that he would deliver the reward if he would bring back the children from the city. The boy played with his flute and the children, one by one, happily returned to their families. The small town was calm and happy again as before and the flutist, very rich, helped many people throughout his life.
