Telegram has accumulated complaints in Germany, which does not only indicate the intention of Brazilian Federal Government in guaranteeing the suspension of the platform. There, the government showed impatience with the functioning of the social network, claiming that they do not comply with local regulations and support extremist groups. With this, the app accumulates fines and complaints.
The German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser's stance towards Telegram reflects the government's concern and dissatisfaction with the attitudes of the app's administration. According to researchers, the company only acts to curb the spread of extremist content when it is under government pressure, and even then, on a temporary basis.

Faced with the spread of harmful content, Minister Faeser highlighted the importance of ensuring security and legal compliance on online communication platforms. However, she stressed that suspending Telegram would be an extreme measure, considered as a last resort.
The minister's statement highlights the need to seek alternatives to deal with the problem, balancing freedom of expression and the responsibility of platforms to combat the spread of information dangerous. Finding effective solutions that protect users and promote a safe and healthy digital environment is critical.
Over the past two years, German authorities have repeatedly accused Telegram of not complying with the demands of the NetzDG (Network Enforcement Act). This legislation aims to regulate the fight against the spread of extremist content on social media platforms and messaging apps. By all indications, it is the favorite social network of right-wing extremists.
Implemented in 2017, the NetzDG law requires the removal of content considered illegal within 24 hours, as well as provides for fines of up to 50 million euros for non-compliance with the rule. The focus of the law is mainly on social media platforms with more than 2 million users in Germany, such as telegram.
In 2021, an amendment was incorporated into the law and began to require that digital interaction platforms report to the local federal police about the illegal content shared, including pornography childish.
During the months of August and September 2022, members of the German government were surprised when the Telegram asked platform users an ironic question to answer a survey. In the question, the platform asked if users would think it was correct that the social network could collaborate with the local authority. This, in fact, was just one of the cases in which the company experienced moments of tension with the local authority.
