Is olive fruit or vegetable?

The olive is a fruit of the olive trees. But the mess we make with fruits and vegetables is more normal than we think. That's because when plants become food they change their name. And we also have the habit of thinking that any salty vegetable is a vegetable and that sweets are fruit! But that's not always true. The fruit (the fleshy part) is a protection of the seed. Usually, fruits have a stone in the middle, which is the seed, and vegetables do not (with the exception of the pod, which is a vegetable, but has seed). Many fruits are sweet to attract animals. After they eat the fruit, they spread the seed and help the species survive.
