Ministry of Education releases first call for Prouni 2023
The main change for 2020 is that the selection processes of the Fies Guarantor Fund (Zero interest) and p-fies will not happen simultaneously.
In Interest Zero, the minimum amount for financing must be the amount referring to 50% (half) of the monthly fees of the chosen course. However, the fundable limit cannot exceed R$ 42,983.70 per semester.
The P-Fies, which has interest rates set by banking institutions, will no longer have the National High School Examination (Enem) as a method for selecting the students benefiting from the funding, and enrollment can be made throughout the year.
Another change refers to the amount of family income, in which the P-Fies does away with the requirement of up to five minimum wages.
Still on income, the criterion for applying for funding is having a family income of up to three minimum wages per person. In addition, there can be no debts with Fies when registering.
In addition, the rule became stricter regarding the essay. Before, it was enough not to finish the essay, while in 2020 it is necessary to reach the minimum of 400 points. The minimum score for the objective test remains the same as in previous years, 450 points.
To apply for FIES, it is necessary to have taken the Enem in any year, since 2010, and fit the category of family per capita income of up to three minimum wages.
Applications must be made exclusively online, through the Fies Selection System – FiesSelecção, starting on February 5th and ending on February 12th, at 11:59 pm, according to the official time in Brasília – DF.
The registration requires filling in the personal data of the candidate, in addition to the income of the members of the family group with the recent income tax return of each one of them.
On the occasion, three options of courses, shifts and institutions can be listed to compete for the vacancy.
The pre-selection will be announced on the 26th of February and the call for the waiting list between the 26th of February and the 31st of March.
They are 100 thousand vacancies offered in 2020, for different courses and regions. Their distribution depends on different factors, such as the institution's score obtained in an evaluation carried out by the MEC.
However, the priority regions are those with the lowest Municipal Human Development Index (HDIM), such as North and Northeast. And the priority areas are Health, Engineering and Computing, degrees and Pedagogy, reaching 60% of opportunities.
However, the number of vacancies varies according to the score obtained in a given educational institution, through the National Higher Education Assessment System (Sinaes).
Thus, the courses with the best grades (grade 5) are those that have priority in Fies funding.
It should be noted that funding is not valid for distance learning courses (EAD), only on-site courses. Check the distribution of vacancies according to the concepts:
Those who have won funding at Fies and wish to change course, must record their performance on the Enem equal to or greater than the graduation cut-off grade in which they are interested in changing.
The criteria delimited by the MEC serve to create limits on transfers between courses.
At first, the pre-selected candidates must fill out all the information on the funding website. After that, it is necessary to seek the Permanent Commission for Supervision and Follow-up (CPSA) at the institution of interest.
On site, the student's documentation will be analyzed within five days. Three documents are essential for financing: identification, proof of residence and income.
After document validation, the person has a period of 10 days to go after Fies' partner bank to sign the contract. However, in some circumstances, a guarantor is required to sign the contract.
During the graduation period, the student linked to Fies pays, each quarter, the maximum amount of R$150.00. The amount relates mainly to the payment of interest on course financing.
